The environment at TotalEnergies
Biodiversity, water, air, soil and the circular economy: our actions to protect the environment are all-encompassing, and we consider nature as a whole. Determined to provide as many people as possible with energy that is more affordable, more reliable and more sustainable, we are committed to preserving and streamlining our use of natural resources.
This specifically means that we develop our activities, including renewable energies, while taking action to preserve biodiversity, prevent and control soil pollution, and tackle deforestation. This is also reflected in our efforts to reduce our freshwater withdrawals and limit substance releases to air and water. Lastly, it means playing an active role in promoting the circular economy by developing waste recovery processes and incorporating more circular raw materials into our production systems.
Our 5 levers for a sustainable change
Our 5 levers for sustainable change are a first step towards driving change by promoting certain priority collective attitudes, which are deliberately non-exhaustive.
This approach requires a commitment from everyone to implement these priority attitudes.

Lever 1 : Energy consumption
In my operations, I review all my energy consumption and aim to minimize them. In my projects, I design installations to minimize energy consumption.

Lever 2 : Low carbone
Promote the use of renewable energies and low-carbon technologies in my projects and my operations, taking into account a CO2 cost of $100/t. I do the same with my customers and suppliers to enable them to reduce their emissions.

Lever 3 : Environment
In my operations, I review all discharges to air, water, oceans and soil, as well as waste, and aim to minimize them in the light of the best available technologies and practices. In my projects, I design installations to minimize pollution and waste.

Lever 4 : Our communities
I know the neighbors of my site and my stakeholders; I engage and maintain a constructive dialogue with them, including through the careful handling of complaints. I anticipate this dialogue right from the design stage of a new project.

Lever 5 : Care
I pay attention to my colleagues and report when one of them shows signs of not being well “mal-être”.
